On Thursday night, the minister joined ARY News programme \u201811th Hour\u2019, which was being broadcast live, via a video link.<\/p>\n
As the minister discussed the matter of talks between the government and the opposition, the conversation was disrupted when a person \u2014 not seen in the video \u2014 yelled in an aggressive tone, \u201cShut this\u201d.<\/p>\n
Following that, Iqbal\u2019s call was disconnected.<\/p>\n
It prompted the host to wonder aloud if Iqbal was alright.<\/p>\n
\u201cI hope everything is well. I don\u2019t know what just happened,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Later, the minister rejoined the programme, confirming that \u201call was well\u201d.<\/p>\n
The incident sparked widespread speculation across social media, with many people suggesting that it was political in nature.<\/p>\n
The planning minister, however, clarified on X early today morning that \u201ca brief disruption occurred during a live broadcast when someone nearby, having an argument, was unaware that I was live on air.\u201c<\/p>\n
\u201cI rejoined the interview shortly afterward,\u201d he added, calling on people to \u201cavoid unnecessary politicisation of this.\u201d<\/p>\n
The minister said this in a reply to a post made by journalist Ajmal Jami, who confirmed that he had spoken to Iqbal after watching the clip of the incident.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe (Iqbal) said there was a family gathering at his Islamabad residence when children unexpectedly entered his study. He rejoined the show shortly after,\u201d Jami\u2019s post said.<\/p>\n
