{"id":14870,"date":"2026-01-04T11:05:26","date_gmt":"2026-01-04T11:05:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=14870"},"modified":"2026-01-04T11:05:26","modified_gmt":"2026-01-04T11:05:26","slug":"bangladesh-will-not-play-t20-world-cup-matches-in-india-decision-taken-in-context-of-extreme-communal-policy-of-bcci","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=14870","title":{"rendered":"Bangladesh will not play T20 World Cup matches in India, decision taken in context of \u2018extreme communal policy\u2019 of BCCI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bangladesh will not play their Twenty20 World Cup matches in India after Mustafizur Rahman was released by his Indian Premier League team amid growing tensions between the countries, Bangladesh\u2019s sports adviser Asif Nazrul said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Kolkata Knight Riders said on Saturday they had released the Bangladesh bowler after being told to do so by India\u2019s cricket board (BCCI).<\/p>\n<p>Bangladesh are scheduled to play three Twenty20 World Cup matches in Kolkata next month, with the February 7-March 8 tournament being co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBangladesh will not go to India to play the World Cup. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has taken this decision today,\u201d Nazrul, who is an adviser to the Ministry of Sports, said in a statement after an emergency meeting of the BCB.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe welcome this decision taken in the context of the extreme communal policy of India\u2019s cricket board.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Nazrul had said, \u201cWe will not accept any insult to Bangladeshi cricket, cricketers and Bangladesh under any circumstances.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe days of slavery are over,\u201d he had said.<\/p>\n<p>Nazrul said he had ordered the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to write to the International Cricket Council (ICC).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe board should inform that, where a Bangladeshi cricketer cannot play in India despite being contracted, the entire Bangladeshi cricket team cannot feel safe going to play in the World Cup,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have also instructed the board to request that Bangladesh\u2019s World Cup matches should be held in Sri Lanka.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nazrul said he would also ask that the IPL be blocked from Bangladeshi broadcasters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have requested the Information and Broadcasting Adviser to stop the broadcasting of the IPL tournament in Bangladesh,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Kolkata, majority-owned by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, subsequently said that Mustafizur\u2019s \u201crelease has been carried out following due process and consultations\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>BCB president Aminul Islam Bulbul told reporters late on Saturday: \u201cThe dignity and security of our cricketers are our top priorities, and we will take a decision at the appropriate time keeping these in mind.\u201c<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bangladesh will not play their Twenty20 World Cup matches in India after Mustafizur Rahman was released by his Indian Premier League team amid growing tensions between the countries, Bangladesh\u2019s sports adviser Asif Nazrul said on Sunday.
