PESHAWAR: In what is being interpreted as a tac\u00adit acknowledgement of Pak\u00ad\u00adistan\u2019s grouse with Ka\u00ad\u00adbul, the leader of a notorious terrorist outfit has reportedly urged his \u2018commanders\u2019 to avoid recruiting and deploying foreign fighters \u2014 most notably Afghans \u2014 to fight in Pakistan, warning of serious consequences if his instructions are violated.<\/p>\n
The instruction was rel\u00adayed by Hafiz Gul Baha\u00addur, who heads the so-cal\u00adled Ittehadul Mujahideen Pakistan, in an audio message released to his cadres a few days ago, The Khorasan Diary reported.<\/p>\n
This also seems to fly in the face of Kabul\u2019s stance that the terrorist threat plaguing Pakistan is \u201can internal problem\u201d.<\/p>\n
The issue of Afghan soil and fighters being used to stage terrorist attacks in Pakistan has remained a critical bone of contention between Islamabad and Afghanistan, escalating into border skirmishes and leading to the eventual closure of the Pak-Afghan border in October last year.<\/p>\n
In recent months, Pakis\u00adtan\u2019s civilian and military leadership has maintained that the terrorism plaguing the country originated from Afghanistan.<\/p>\n
The instruction from Gul Bahadur comes in the backdrop of pressure from the Afghan Taliban on their Pakistani comrades \u2014 in the face of rising international pressure \u2014 and follows a decree by a council of religious scholars, pledging that Afghan soil would not be used against a foreign country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
