{"id":15173,"date":"2026-01-12T07:36:58","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T07:36:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=15173"},"modified":"2026-01-12T07:36:58","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T07:36:58","slug":"trump-says-iran-wants-to-negotiate-and-meeting-being-set-up","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=15173","title":{"rendered":"Trump says Iran \u2018wants to negotiate\u2019 and meeting \u2018being set up\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>US President Donald Trump said on Sunday that Iran\u2019s leadership had called seeking \u201cto negotiate\u201d after his threats of military action amid mass anti-government protests in the Islamic Republic.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe leaders of Iran called\u201d yesterday, Trump told reporters aboard Air Force One, adding that \u201ca meeting is being set up\u2026 They want to negotiate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, Trump added that \u201cwe may have to act before a meeting\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>With Iran\u2019s government facing the biggest demonstrations since 2022, Trump has repeatedly threatened to get involved if force is used on protesters.<\/p>\n<p>Iran has not given an official casualty toll for the protests, and Reuters was unable to independently verify tallies of rights groups.<\/p>\n<p>The protests began on December 28 in response to soaring prices, before turning against the authorities in Iran, which has governed since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.<\/p>\n<p>Near paralysis<br \/>\nIn Tehran, an AFP journalist described a city in a state of near paralysis.<\/p>\n<p>The price of meat has nearly doubled since the start of the protests, and many shops are closed.
