{"id":15182,"date":"2026-01-12T23:57:05","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T23:57:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=15182"},"modified":"2026-01-12T23:57:05","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T23:57:05","slug":"info-ministry-rubbishes-claims-of-pakistan-being-used-as-a-base-for-possible-us-strike-on-iran","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=15182","title":{"rendered":"Info ministry rubbishes claims of Pakistan being used as a base for possible US strike on Iran"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected claims circulating on social media alleging that Pakistan is being used as a base or launch corridor to support the United States for a possible military strike on Iran, which has been rocked by protests in recent weeks.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry\u2019s fact check account on X attributed the claims to \u201cpropaganda machineries in Afghanistan\u201c and Indian accounts, particularly identifying three handles \u2014 Khurasan Media Urdu, Baba Banaras and Afghan Defense.<\/p>\n<p>Among them, a post by Khurasan Media Urdu claimed that \u201cspecial American aircraft have reached Pakistan for an attack on Iran\u201d. The post also mentioned \u201cunusual\u201d flight activity of US aerial refuelling and surveillance aircraft between Pakistan and Iran.<\/p>\n<p>A post by Afghan Defense repeated the claim.<\/p>\n<p>Baba Banaras\u2019 post made a similar claim, stating: \u201cMultiple US reconnaissance aircraft and cargo planes with weapons landed at Dalbandin Airbase and Pasni Airbase of Pakistan. Looks like the game has been set for Iran.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The ministry\u2019s fact check account said false claims had been made \u201cthat the US has moved aerial refuelling (KC-135R) and surveillance aircraft to Pakistan, that these aircraft are conducting unusual flights towards or into Iranian airspace, and that Pakistan is being used as a base or launch corridor to support US stealth fighters (F-35\/F-22) for a possible imminent military strike on Iran\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The post added that while it was true that the activity of US aerial refuelling aircraft had increased, it was not from Pakistan. \u201cReuters reported the US moved a large number of refuelling aircraft to Europe as Middle East tensions rose,\u201d the ministry clarified, referring to a June 2025 report.<\/p>\n<p>It also referred to a June 2025 report by The Washington Post, which it said mentioned Pentagon dispatching \u201crefuelling aircraft to European bases as posture expanded\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The ministry\u2019s post further stated: \u201cNo credible outlet confirms that US KC-135R\/ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) aircraft are operating in Pakistan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It reiterated that \u201cUS refuelling aircraft movements have been reported, but mostly linked to Europe\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo credible proof that US aircraft\/ISR are based in Pakistan. No credible proof of Pakistan-to-Iran operational flights for strikes,\u201d it added.<\/p>\n<p>It recalled that Pakistan had \u201cpublicly condemned US strikes on Iran\u201d \u2014 ostensibly a reference to Islamabad\u2019s stance during a 12-day war between Iran and Israel, during which the US also carried strikes in Iran.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis clearly denied the \u2018Pakistan is facilitating strikes\u2019 story,\u201d the information ministry said. \u201cThis is a reckless, blame-pushing narrative that tries to drag Pakistan into a US-Iran conflict without any verifiable evidence.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has rejected claims circulating on social media alleging that Pakistan is being used as a base or launch corridor to support the United States for a possible military strike on Iran, which has been rocked by protests in recent weeks.
