{"id":15260,"date":"2026-01-14T11:01:14","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T11:01:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=15260"},"modified":"2026-01-14T11:01:14","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T11:01:14","slug":"pakistan-signs-mou-with-trump-linked-world-liberty-finance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=15260","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan signs MoU with Trump-linked World Liberty Finance"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pakistan said on Wednesday it had signed an agreement with a firm connected to World Liberty Financial, the main crypto business of US President Donald Trump\u2019s family, to explore using World Liberty\u2019s stablecoin for cross-border payments.<\/p>\n<p>The Pakistan Virtual Asset Regulatory Authority (PVARA) said in a statement that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with SC Financial Technologies, a little-known company it described as an \u201caffiliated entity\u201d of World Liberty, would enable \u201cdialogue and technical understanding around emerging digital payment architectures\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement represents one of the first publicly announced tie-ups between World Liberty, a crypto-based finance platform launched in September 2024, and a sovereign state. It also comes amid a warming of ties between Pakistan and the United States.<\/p>\n<p>Under the agreement, SC Financial Technologies will work with Pakistan\u2019s central bank to integrate its USD1 stablecoin into a regulated digital payments structure, allowing the token to operate alongside Pakistan\u2019s own digital currency infrastructure, a source involved in the deal said.<\/p>\n<p>World Liberty CEO visits Pakistan<br \/>\nThe announcement of the memorandum came during a visit to Pakistan by Zach Witkoff, son of US special envoy Steve Witkoff and co-founder and chief executive of World Liberty.<\/p>\n<p>Zach Witkoff is also CEO of SC Financial Technologies. The company, registered in Delaware, co-owns with World Liberty the USD1 stablecoin brand, according to documentation on the stablecoin\u2019s reserves from July 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Field Marshal Asim Munir, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and others at the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding with SC Financial Technologies on January 14. \u2014 Photo via PVARA<br \/>\nWitkoff met with \u201csenior Pakistani stakeholders\u201d to discuss how digital payment infrastructure, cross-border settlement and foreign exchange processes, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur focus is to stay ahead of the curve by engaging with credible global players, understanding new financial models, and ensuring that innovation, where explored, is aligned with regulation, stability, and national interest,\u201d said Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb.<\/p>\n<p>Stablecoins, digital tokens typically pegged to the dollar, have ballooned in value in recent years.
