Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that the government was taking measures to bring the informal economy into the tax net in the upcoming budget, the Prime Minister\u2019s Office (PMO) said.<\/p>\n
The premier made the declaration during a meeting with a delegation of renowned businessmen and industrialists, where he exchanged views with them on the pace of the country\u2019s economic growth and consulted with them over the upcoming budget.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou are the ambassadors of Pakistan,\u201d the premier told the delegation, expressing gratitude for the business community\u2019s support to the government in \u201cdifficult economic conditions\u201d.<\/p>\n
PM Shehbaz noted that a \u201cstrong partnership\u201d with the private sector was a \u201cguarantee of economic growth\u201d, and underscored the \u201cutmost importance\u201d of consulting with them over policymaking for the economy.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are on the path of export-led growth,\u201d the premier remarked, adding that export-led growth was \u201ccore\u201d of Pakistan\u2019s economic policy.<\/p>\n
He told the businessmen that the government was taking actions to bring the informal economy into the tax net, as well as measures aimed at providing relief to the public in the upcoming budget.<\/p>\n
He noted that the government\u2019s business-friendly policies have made the economy stable and restored foreign investor confidence. PM Shehbaz further outlined plans to promote industries that \u201cincrease domestic production, boost exports, and create maximum job opportunities\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cDevelopment in industry, agriculture, and information technology will further stabilise the economy and create new employment opportunities,\u201d the prime minister was quoted as saying. He added that the government had also launched programmes for \u201ctechnical and vocational training\u201d of the youth to promote employment opportunities.<\/p>\n
