{"id":18616,"date":"2026-06-22T12:15:31","date_gmt":"2026-06-22T12:15:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=18616"},"modified":"2026-06-22T12:15:31","modified_gmt":"2026-06-22T12:15:31","slug":"pakistan-will-continue-to-play-honest-sincere-role-in-advancing-dialogue-says-pm-after-us-iran-talks-in-switzerland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=18616","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan will continue to play &#8216;honest, sincere role&#8217; in advancing dialogue, says PM after US-Iran talks in Switzerland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Monday expressed Pakistan\u2019s continued commitment to play an \u201chonest and sinere\u201d role in advancing dialogue in what were his first remarks after the conclusion of a high-level meeting between the United States and Iran under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding aimed at ending the Middle East conflict.<\/p>\n<p>In a post on X, PM Shehbaz expressed satisfaction at the \u201csuccessful conclusion\u201d of the meeting held in Switzerland\u2019s Burgenstock.<\/p>\n<p>The premier stated that the discussions were held in a \u201cpositive and constructive atmosphere and yielded encouraging progress,\u201d which included a roadmap towards the final deal within 60 days, the establishment of a high-level committee for political oversight and the commencement of further technical talks.<\/p>\n<p>PM Shehbaz commended the leadership of both the US and Iran for \u201ccontinued commitment to constructive engagement\u201d. He also expressed thanks for \u201call brotherly and friendly countries for their valuable support in advancing this historic process,\u201d particularly Qatar.<\/p>\n<p>The premier thanked Qatar for its \u201ccritical support\u201d in creating the necessary conditions for the negotiations to move forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA word of thanks to the Swiss Government for their facilitation in hosting these talks,\u201d PM Shehbaz said. He also paid a \u201cspecial tribute\u201d to Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir.<\/p>\n<p>PM Shehbaz said that CDF Munir\u2019s \u201cunitiring efforts\u201d ensured the success of the talks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis dedication, commitment and perseverance are indeed commendable without which there would have been no progress,\u201d the premier remarked.<\/p>\n<p>He further thanked Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as well as Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPakistan will continue to play its honest and sincere role in advancing dialogue and diplomacy towards a peaceful and lasting resolution,\u201d PM Shehbaz concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, DPM Dar \u201cwarmly welcomed\u201d the \u201csubstantial progress\u201d achieved at the talks. He also congratulated PM Shehbaz and CDF Munir for their \u201cvisionary leadership and tireless efforts in achieving this milestone\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would also like to express my deep appreciation for the constructive spirit shown by the United States of America as well as the Islamic Republic of Iran towards the implementation of the Islamabad MoU and commend their continued commitment to dialogue and diplomacy.
