{"id":2975,"date":"2024-01-08T11:53:29","date_gmt":"2024-01-08T11:53:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=2975"},"modified":"2024-01-08T11:53:29","modified_gmt":"2024-01-08T11:53:29","slug":"2975","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=2975","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Criminal Law (Amendment) Bill 2021 was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1656892\">passed<\/a>\u00a0by the NA on November 8, 2021, and aimed at making amendments to the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Code of Criminal Procedure. In 2022, former human rights minister Shireen Mazari had alleged that the bill had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1667443\">gone \u201cmissing\u201d<\/a>\u00a0after it was sent to the Senate, having been passed by the relevant standing committee and the NA.<\/p>\n<p>Later, Mazari had also\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1691296\">claimed<\/a>\u00a0that she was asked to appear at the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) headquarters over the bill. She had added that after the bill was tabled in the NA, it was referred to the interior committee where \u201cinvisible shadows\u201d tried to change the clauses. She had regretted that the bill \u201cdisappeared\u201d on the way to the Senate.<\/p>\n<p>The issue of the \u201cmissing\u201d bill\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dawn.com\/news\/1802781\">cropped up<\/a>\u00a0in the Supreme Court on January 2 during the hearing of a case on enforced disappearances.
