{"id":4506,"date":"2025-01-07T02:48:24","date_gmt":"2025-01-07T02:48:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=4506"},"modified":"2025-01-07T02:48:24","modified_gmt":"2025-01-07T02:48:24","slug":"differences-inevitable-in-coalition-govts-but-that-doesnt-indicate-a-problem-iqbal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=4506","title":{"rendered":"Differences inevitable in coalition govts, but that doesn\u2019t indicate a problem: Iqbal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While responding to reservations raised by PPP spokesperson Shazia Marri regarding the government not consulting the party on key decisions, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Monday said that differences in a coalition government were inevitable, but they did not necessarily indicate a problem.<\/p>\n<p>Already at odds with the PML-N on how to run the country, the differences between the two parties have been simmering for a while and a recent meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari to revive trust seemingly failed to put an end to these disagreements.<\/p>\n<p>A statement by PPP leader Marri yesterday put the spotlight back on these disagreements as she criticised the PML-N-led government for not consulting her party when making key decisions, which she said included the establishment of the Pakistan Maritime and Seaport Authority. She said that the government\u2019s survival \u201chinged on PPP\u2019s support\u201d and that the government would \u201ccollapse\u201d if that support was withdrawn.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the PPP leader\u2019s statement today, Iqbal \u2014 while speaking to reporters in Karachi along with Sindh Energy Mininster Syed Nasir Hussain Shah \u2014 said that \u201cslight differences\u201d were usual when governments were formed via a coalition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese problems happen even in a house \u2014 between siblings, between husband and wife \u2014 but it does not mean it is a problem,\u201d Iqbal said, adding that both parties had managed their differences amicably.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe two major political parties in the country have their distinct ideologies but one vision, so they have consensus,\u201d he said. \u201cThat vision is Pakistan.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said that both parties kept their differences aside whenever it came to the country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to keep our politics aside and both parties have to play their part,\u201d he said, adding that the understanding between the parties existed since the charter of democracy was signed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While responding to reservations raised by PPP spokesperson Shazia Marri regarding the government not consulting the party on key decisions, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal on Monday said that differences in a coalition government were inevitable, but they did not necessarily indicate a problem.
