{"id":4690,"date":"2025-01-15T02:44:40","date_gmt":"2025-01-15T02:44:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=4690"},"modified":"2025-01-15T02:44:40","modified_gmt":"2025-01-15T02:44:40","slug":"pakistan-bangladesh-underscore-enduring-partnership-for-resillience-against-external-influences","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=4690","title":{"rendered":"Pakistan, Bangladesh underscore \u2018enduring partnership\u2019 for resillience against external influences"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The militaries of Pakistan and Bangladesh stressed the need on Tuesday for the \u201cenduring partnership\u201d between the two countries to \u201cremain resilient against external influences\u201d amid a thaw in ties.<\/p>\n<p>The two countries were once one nation but split following a bloody civil war, which saw the territory previously referred to as \u2018East Pakistan\u2019 seceding to form the independent nation of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n<p>In the years since the split, Dhaka\u2019s leaders \u2014 especially the recently ousted regime of Sheikh Hasina \u2014 stayed firmly in the Indian camp, preferring to maintain close ties with New Delhi and keeping Islamabad at arm\u2019s length.<\/p>\n<p>However, ever since a popular uprising that saw Hasina\u2019s government toppled in August, there has been a thaw in ties between the two capitals, with trade and bilateral relations seeing a marked improvement.<\/p>\n<p>A statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said that Lieutenant General S M Kamrul Hassan, principal staff officer (PSO) of the Armed Forces Division of Bangladesh, met Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir at the General Headquarters today during the former\u2019s visit to Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe COAS and the PSO underscored the importance of a stronger defence relationship, emphasising that the enduring partnership between the two brotherly nations must remain resilient against external influences,\u201d the ISPR said.<\/p>\n<p>It added that both held extensive discussions on the evolving security dynamics in the region and explored further avenues for enhancing bilateral military cooperation.<\/p>\n<p>COAS Munir reiterated the significance of joint efforts to promote peace and stability in South Asia and the broader region while ensuring that both nations continued to contribute to regional security through collaborative defence initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>The Bangladeshi military official commended the Pakistan Army\u2019s \u201cexceptional professionalism\u201d and acknowledged the \u201cimmense sacrifices\u201d made by the armed forces in the fight against terrorism, noting that their efforts served as a \u201cbeacon of courage and determination\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The ISPR said Gen Hassan also earlier met Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza at the Joint Staff Headquarters.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The militaries of Pakistan and Bangladesh stressed the need on Tuesday for the \u201cenduring partnership\u201d between the two countries to \u201cremain resilient against external influences\u201d amid a thaw in ties.
