Donald Trump will meet Jordan\u2019s King Abdullah today for what is likely to be a tense encounter following the US president\u2019s Gaza redevelopment idea and threat to cut aid to the US-allied Arab country if it refuses to resettle Palestinians, Reuters reports.<\/p>\n
King Abdullah has said he rejected any moves to annex land and displace Palestinians. Today, he is expected to tell Trump such a move could spur radicalism, spread chaos in the region, jeopardise peace with Israel and threaten the country\u2019s very survival.<\/p>\n
For his part, Trump has modified aspects of his initial proposal and doubled down on others. He has expressed increasing impatience with Arab leaders who see the idea as unworkable.<\/p>\n
\u201cI do think he\u2019ll take\u201d refugees, Trump told reporters at the White House yesterday, referring to King Abdullah.<\/p>\n
