{"id":8237,"date":"2025-04-17T00:39:09","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T00:39:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=8237"},"modified":"2025-04-17T00:39:09","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T00:39:09","slug":"iranian-president-hopes-for-us-nuclear-deal-as-talks-set-for-italy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=8237","title":{"rendered":"Iranian president hopes for US nuclear deal as talks set for Italy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Wednesday that he hopes a deal can be reached with the United States, as the two countries prepare for a second round of nuclear talks this weekend.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would naturally welcome the conclusion of an agreement\u201d with the US, Iran\u2019s official IRNA news agency quoted Pezeshkian as saying during a cabinet meeting.<\/p>\n<p>The first round of talks, held last Saturday in Oman\u2019s capital Muscat, was led by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.<\/p>\n<p>The next round of nuclear talks between Iran and the United States will be held on Saturday in Italy and not Oman, Iranian state media reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe second round of Iran-US nuclear talks will be held next Saturday in Rome \u2026 and the Omani foreign ministry will be hosting the talks,\u201d Iranian state TV said.<\/p>\n<p>European officials had earlier said the talks would be held in Rome, but Iranian officials had insisted they would be held in Oman.<\/p>\n<p>Also on Wednesday, a spokesman for the Italian foreign ministry confirmed to AFP that the talks would be held in Rome.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei, in a post on X, appeared to criticise the changing of the location of the talks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn diplomacy, such a move, promoted by extremist elements lacking an understanding of logic or the art of reasonable negotiation, can jeopardise any beginning,\u201d he said, adding that it can \u201cbe seen as a lack of seriousness and good faith.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Iran FM says uranium enrichment \u2018non-negotiable\u2019<br \/>\nIran\u2019s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Wednesday that Iran\u2019s enrichment of uranium as part of its nuclear programme was \u201cnon-negotiable\u201d after US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff called for a halt.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIran\u2019s enrichment is a real, accepted matter. We are ready to build confidence in response to possible concerns, but the issue of enrichment is non-negotiable,\u201d Araghchi told reporters after a cabinet meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Araghchi condemned what he called the \u201ccontradictory and conflicting positions\u201d coming out of the Trump administration ahead of Saturday\u2019s talks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will find out the true opinions of the Americans during the negotiation session,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s top diplomat said he hoped to start negotiations on the framework of a possible agreement, but said that required \u201cconstructive positions\u201d from the United States.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we continue to [hear] contradictory and conflicting positions, we are going to have problems,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n<p>Araghchi is set to head to Iranian ally Russia on Thursday, Iran\u2019s ambassador in Moscow, Kazem Jalili, said.
