{"id":8240,"date":"2025-04-17T00:39:35","date_gmt":"2025-04-17T00:39:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=8240"},"modified":"2025-04-17T00:39:35","modified_gmt":"2025-04-17T00:39:35","slug":"trump-says-joke-harvard-should-be-stripped-of-funds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=8240","title":{"rendered":"Trump says \u2018joke\u2019 Harvard should be stripped of funds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United States President Donald Trump called Harvard a \u201cjoke\u201d on Wednesday and said it should lose its government research contracts after the top US university refused to accept demands to come under outside political supervision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHarvard can no longer be considered even a decent place of learning, and should not be considered on any list of the world\u2019s great universities or colleges,\u201d Trump said on his Truth Social platform. \u201cHarvard is a joke, teaches hate and stupidity, and should no longer receive federal funds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Trump is furious at the storied university, which has produced 162 Nobel prize winners, for rejecting his demand to submit to government supervision on admissions, hiring and political slant.<\/p>\n<p>Other institutions, including Columbia University, have bowed to less far-ranging demands from the Trump administration, which claims that the educational elite is too left-wing.<\/p>\n<p>Harvard flatly rejected the pressure, with its president, Alan Garber, saying this week that the university refuses to \u201cnegotiate over its independence or its constitutional rights\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Trump this week ordered the freezing of $2.2 billion in federal funding to Harvard, a global research powerhouse.
