{"id":9575,"date":"2025-05-29T00:01:10","date_gmt":"2025-05-29T00:01:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=9575"},"modified":"2025-05-29T00:01:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-29T00:01:10","slug":"pm-shehbaz-reiterates-willingness-to-talk-on-kashmir-terrorism-if-india-wants-in-all-sincerity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=9575","title":{"rendered":"PM Shehbaz reiterates willingness to talk on Kashmir, terrorism if India \u2018wants in all sincerity\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday reiterated Pakistan\u2019s willingness to hold talks with India on the Kashmir dispute and counterterrorism, stressing New Delhi wanted the same \u201cin all sincerity\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister participated in the Pakistan-Turkiye-Azerbaijan Trilateral Summit alongside presidents Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ilham Aliyev. The meeting comes as the premier continued his tour to friendly countries to appreciate their support for Pakistan during the recent conflict with India.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the summit, PM Shehbaz said: \u201cI have said in all humility that we want peace in the region [\u2026] and that requires talks on the table on issues which need urgent attention and amicable resolution, that is the issue of Kashmir according to the resolutions of the United Nations and the Security Council and as per the aspirations of the people of Kashmir.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The premier also touched upon the issue of terrorism: \u201cI have said in all earnest that if India wants to talk on countering terrorism in sincerity of purpose, Pakistan would be willing to talk to India on this issue as well.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut this is a fact of life that we are the biggest victims of terrorism around the globe; we lost 90,000 valuable lives in Pakistan and $150 billion worth of economic losses over the last many decades,\u201d he highlighted.<\/p>\n<p>PM Shehbaz also expressed willingness to resume trade if India was willing to cooperate on the issues, including counterterrorism.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere cannot be a bigger commitment and intention to beat this menace (terrorism) for all times to come, and in that, if India wants in all sincerity honest cooperation, Pakistan would be willing, along with the promotion of trade with India. All these issues need to be discussed on the table.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would be extremely grateful for your support in this regard,\u201d he said, addressing the Turkiye and Azerbaijan presidents.<\/p>\n<p>On India\u2019s unilateral move to hold the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance, the premier said: \u201cIndia tried to weaponise the Indus Waters Treaty, which is a lifeline for the people of Pakistan \u2014 240 million people \u2014 for their agricultural use, for drinking and many other purposes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think this is most unfortunate that India tried to threaten to stop our flow of water to Pakistan. This is not possible, was never possible, and will not be possible, God-willing. We are making proper arrangements to ensure that India never ever does it,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n<p>During his address, Shehbaz noted: \u201cThe world we live in faces numerous grave challenges, including armed conflict, climate change, diseases and economic crises.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is why the three of us have assembled here today, opting for compassion while rejecting conflict. We are confident that patience and wisdom will ultimately usher in peace and prosperity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn today\u2019s unpredictable and volatile world, political security, architectures, connectivity, alignments and emerging technologies are shaping the new reality. In such a situation, Pakistan is very fortunate to have sincere brothers like Turkiye and Azerbaijan who have stood together with us as impregnable rocks and whom we can trust without a second thought.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Reiterating his gratitude to Erdogan and Aliyev for their diplomatic support during the recent conflict with India, which \u201cwas obviously very serious\u201d. \u201cIt was an aggression from India against Pakistan for no rhyme and reason.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted Erdogan\u2019s \u201cfirm stand and solidarity with the people of Pakistan\u201d, as well as Aliyev\u2019s unwavering commitment to the people of Pakistan\u201c had earned the highest level of appreciation from his government and the nation.<\/p>\n<p>The prime minister hailed the role of Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir during Pakistan\u2019s response, noting the \u201cgreat bravery and the highest level of professional acumen\u201d of the armed forces under his leadership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI saw him during those moments God-fearing, fearless, firm and with an iron resolve, with patience and obviously with fortitude to face that aggression.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Addressing Aliyev, the premier thanked him for the hospitality shown to him and his delegation, noting that today\u2019s summit \u201creflects the meeting of hearts and souls of genuine friends and sincere well-wishers\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Recalling the \u201cmost fruitful discussions\u201d at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit last year in Kazakhstan, PM Shehbaz said, \u201cWe are now eagerly looking forward to taking our trilateral partnership to new heights that would be in consonance with the wishes and desires of our people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis would be no surprise to anyone as Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Turkiye are bound together by deep historical, cultural and spiritual ties forged through centuries of shared values and mutual support,\u201d he asserted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis historical relationship has been further strengthened as we have stood by each other, whether it be on Karabakh, Kashmir or northern Turkish Cyprus. Our strength lies in our solidarity and mutual respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Noting the \u201coutpouring of love and affection in both Turkiye and Azerbaijan\u201d for Pakistan, PM Shehbaz noted: \u201cWe could not but be mesmerised by the intensity of the fervour and enthusiasm of our common citizens during Pakistan\u2019s recent conflict with India.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He noted that India \u201cnot only failed to bring any credible evidence against Pakistan but also rejected our sincere and generous offer of a neutral, transparent investigation into the so-called incident in Pahalgam by any international body\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>At the outset of his speech, the premier congratulated Aliyev and the Azerbaijani nation on their Republic Day. \u201cThe way the Azeri nation fought for its liberation, you earned a high position in the community of nations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also felicitated the Turkish president for \u201cvery skillfully resolving the issue\u201d of the PKK, referring to the Kurdish rebels\u2019 recent decision to disband. \u201cThat goes to explain in volumes, my brother, your diplomatic skills to resolve this issue, and by virtue of this, you have earned a high place and influence not only in the region, but beyond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Turkiye ready to \u2018contribute\u2019 to India-Pakistan peace<br \/>\nAddressing the summit, Erdogan expressed Turkiye\u2019s willingness to mediate between India and Pakistan: \u201cOur hope is that the declared ceasefire will evolve into permanent peace.
