{"id":9642,"date":"2025-05-30T23:56:52","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T23:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=9642"},"modified":"2025-05-30T23:56:52","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T23:56:52","slug":"district-official-killed-by-terrorists-in-balochistans-surab-govt-spokesperson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/weeklyyoung.pk\/?p=9642","title":{"rendered":"District official killed by terrorists in Balochistan\u2019s Surab: govt spokesperson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A district official was killed when his house was attacked by terrorists in Balochistan\u2019s Surab city on Friday, a statement from the provincial government said.<\/p>\n<p>Balochistan Government Spokesperson Shahid Rind, in a statement, termed the incident a \u201cnefarious attempt to challenge the writ of the state\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA bank was looted and the homes of several government officials were attacked, including Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) Hidayatullah Buledi.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuledi was martyred while defending his home during the attack,\u201d Rind said in the statement, adding that the official \u201cset a new example of bravery\u201d through his sacrifice.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWomen and children were also present at the residence during the attack,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson added that \u201cIndian-sponsored proxies have taken action on (India\u2019s) behalf\u201d, adding that a search operation was underway in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are determined to thwart efforts of anti-state elements,\u201d he said, according to the statement.<\/p>\n<p>Frontier Corps and Levies personnel had arrived at the scene, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Separately, Rind spoke to DawnNews TV and said that \u201cgeo-fencing is being used to track down the attackers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dawn.com has reached out to the police and local administration in Surab for comment.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, ISPR Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry accused India of activating its \u201cassets\u201d to inte\u00adnsify terrorist attacks in Pakistan, presenting \u201cirr\u00ade\u00adfutable evidence\u201d of Ind\u00adian state-sponsored terrorism, directed by the Ind\u00adian military personnel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPost-Pahalgam, because of the designs of terrorism that they have, they tasked all their assets, the terrorists operating in Balochistan, and we have credible intelligence for that, the Fitna-al-Khawarij and the independent terrorist cells \u2026 to increase their activity,\u201d he had said, using the state-designated term for the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan.<\/p>\n<p>The security situation in Balochistan has worsened in recent months, as militants, long involved in a low-level insurgency, have stepped up the frequency and intensity of their attacks. The outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army, in particular, has adopted new tactics to inflict higher casualties and directly target Pakistani security forces.<\/p>\n<p>In March, the Jaffar Express train was hijacked near Balochistan\u2019s Sibi area, resulting in the deaths of 26 hostages, including 18 security personnel. Five more security personnel were martyred during the operation.<\/p>\n<p>However, a significant improvement was seen in Pakistan\u2019s internal security landscape in April 2025, \u201cas both militant attacks and resultant casualties dropped sharply compared to March\u201d, according to data released by the Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS).<\/p>\n<p>Pakistan ranked second in the Global Terrorism Index 2025, with the number of deaths in terrorist attacks rising by 45 per cent over the past year to 1,081.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A district official was killed when his house was attacked by terrorists in Balochistan\u2019s Surab city on Friday, a statement from the provincial government said.
